So You Want To Know: Why Compost?

Composting has become a hot topic lately, especially with all the dramatic environmental issues we have been dealing with over the past few years. People everywhere are talking about composting and why compost is so beneficial. However, if you are one of the many people who are still not sure what it is all about and what composting has to offer, there is no better time to learn than now. If you want to know why compost, there are a few things in particular that are sure to spark your interest.

One of the best things about composting is that it is good for the environment. You are doing a great thing for the environment and preventing damage to it when you take the time to compost. You are taking things that otherwise would have just been considered as trash and are using them to give back to the Earth. These days anything you can do to protect the Earth rather than damage it is of great importance.

Recycle things like kitchen garbage and weeds, which you may not have found a use for before and this will make up your compost. One of the main benefits of composting and why compost in the first place is the money it saves you. Especially if you are an avid gardener, you can use the compost that you produce and put it in your garden to nourish the soil and help your plants grow. Then you do not have to worry about going out to the store where you would end up buying pretty much the same thing anyway.

If you want to start composting it is as easy as pie. All you need is a decent sized container, preferably one with a lid, which you can use to hold the compost. You can choose to keep your compost bucket in the kitchen if you like but do be aware that it can create quite a four odor. You certainly do not want the smell of rotting garbage flowing throughout your home so an outdoor location may be more ideal.

Keeping it in the garage is often the best idea. One idea is to keep a smaller bucket inside and then just bring it out to the main one outside once it gets full. Then all you do is start putting everything from eggshells, tea bags, coffee grounds, coffee filters, breads and more and putting these in the compost bucket. It is a very quick and easy process and it is not hard to see why compost is to worth it.
